From 1959 to 1985 USSR had built hundreds of thousands of ugly looking buildings called “Khrushevkas” - a name came from First Secretary of USSR Nikita Khrushev (1953-1964), under whom these buildings were first introduced. These simple panel block buildings were easy and fast to build, which at the time obviously mattered more than their styling. Luckily sometimes creative Russian citizens take matters into their own hands. We’ve already shown you Art on Russian Buildings, here is a creative porch done upon one of those scary creations…

Here are the pictures of Joseph Stalin’s Bunker that was built in the 1930s. This bunker is 50 meters below ground, and is located 17km away from Kremlin. The bunker is connected to Kremlin via the underground passages. During the WW2 Stalin often found himself living in this bunker, and undoubtedly that’s where a lot of important decisions were made…
