We already had one “trying too hard” post. Here is another one, imagine yourself trying to have dinner with the owner of this house…
In 1995, on the main Russian TV channel - Channel 1, most of the viewers felt bewildered by the new clips that were being shown. Since they were so used to seeing commercials between the scheduled programs, they were surprised to see these clips that didn’t advertise anything material to them! All of the clips lasted around 90 second, and had often looked like movie previews. What the people had soon realized, was the fact that these clips were the social ads. They were built on feelings and emotions to which people could connect, they became so popular that many of the lines from the clips were being used by people on the daily basis. To those of you who lived in Russia in the 90s and remembers these clips, this post will serve as a nice flashback, and to whose who don’t speak Russian we’ve tried to translate them. Definitely Watch These Clips!!!
- The soldier’s mother keeps talking to her son, she is soon wondering whether her son is alive or not since he doesn’t seem to respond to her calls. Her son doesn’t answer because he is on duty, soon everyone in the crowd starts cheering so the soldier would at least wave to his mother.
The social message; “Don’t forget about your relatives.”
- One old lady is bickering with the other. Then the one she yells at falls down. At the end they are best friends again.
The social message; “We wish you good health.”
The social message; “This is my city.”
The social message; “To elderly people: We love you”
Bunch of girls sitting down talking about their future plans. One talks about wanting to become a doctor and creating a cure for AIDS, her girlfriend talks about wanting to marry a famous Russian actor, another girl talks about wanting to move to Los Angeles.
The social message; “Set real goals for yourself.”
Dialogue:
Boy: Do you like it?
Girl: Yes, it’s a very beautiful song.
Boy: Can you see well, do want to get on my shoulders?
Girl: No, no it would be uncomfortable.
Boy: I love you.
Girl: I don’t love you.
Girl: I really really love you.
The social message; “I love.”

We already showed you one Bigfoot which was inspired by a tiny Russian “OKA” car. Here is another concept, and according to the titles it’s supposed to be serving the Russian Border Guards!!! In our recent post about the Moscow Zoo in 1920s, you’ve probably noticed how the wild animals would often live along with the domestic pets. Here is the European Lynx which is a very dangerous animal, and a domestic cat which obviously isn’t. You’re definitely wrong in case you think that the cat here is simply playing a role of lynx’s meal for the day. These two have grown up together in the St. Peterburg’s zoo, and as you can see they are best friends…

One guy from Russia was browsing through the Google Earth program, and saw something that looked like an airplane standing in the middle of a forest, so he decided to check it out and to his surprise had found an Antonov An-8 which was a Soviet light military transport twin-turboprop. From the looks of it this airplane, it seems to have been standing in this forest for decades…
