Practicing for the event is well underway and here are pictures from a military base near Moscow, where it all takes place…

Russian way to welcome spring…

by Rfun 1 Comment »

Historically one very old Russian holiday that remained virtually unchanged is called “Maslenica”. The main purpose of this holiday/ritual is to say goodbye to winter, and welcome long awaited spring. This is considered a people’s holiday that’s why large groups of folks gather up and have a good time, they burn up a scarecrow which supposed to represent winter, they make and eat a lot of pancakes and as we see in this case they decided to do a traditional wall on wall “fight” but it’s all in good fun… Here is the video, as well as a big gallery of images from ”Maslenica” held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg…

Russian swamp race…

Lets be honest, trucks covered in dirt and men running around digging them out, don’t seem to have any romantic meaning behind them. Surprisingly there is a bigger story behind this race. As you should know March 8th is Universal Women’s day, because of that guys decided to do this jeep mud race calling it “For Adorable Ladies” obviously it looks like they all had fun but to make it even better, the winner got a chance to send a big bouquet of flowers to his loved one…
